There’s a webtoon, Batman: Wayne Family Adventures, on the Superhero chart, while the Spider-Man manga returns to the Manga chart.
The number 3 title on the Superhero chart is Batman: Wayne Family Adventures (see "DC Webtoons Coming to Print"). The first volume of Vixen: NYC, another DC webtoon property that was released on the same day, is not on the chart, but that may be because Batman is simply the more popular character, with seven titles in the August top 20. While most webtoon properties are Author titles, DC has been using the Webtoon platform for different sorts of stories from the comic-shop comics.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin continues its run as the top-selling title on the Superhero chart. Right behind it is Blue Beetle: Graduation Day, which probably got a boost from the movie (see "‘Blue Beetle’ Box Office"). Despite its hefty $150 price tag, the Immortal Hulk Omnibus makes the chart at number 14 (see "Massive ‘Immortal Hulk’ Omnibus"). Other notable August debuts on the chart include Swamp Thing: Green Hell and Volume 1 of the latest iteration of Miles Morales: Spider-Man.

The Manga chart includes two superhero titles: Spider-Man: Fake Red, which is back on the chart for a second month, and Volume 1 of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, an all-ages manga based on a French animated television series, debuts at number 16. Both are basically superhero properties, and the Spider-Man manga, while it has a different protagonist from the American comics, is remarkably true to the basic concept of Spider-Man.
Other than that, the Manga chart is mostly the usual suspects, popular shonen series with anime adaptations, including the top title, Volume 20 of Jujutsu Kaisen. One to watch out for: The seinen series [Oshi No Ko] is the newest series that looks like it might be a keeper; Volume 1 was on the July chart (see "July 2023 Circana BookScan"), and Volume 3 makes the chart in August.

The Author chart, while dominated by webtoon properties, is remarkably varied, and even the webtoon titles are a mix of different types of content. Topping the list is Volume 7 of Solo Leveling, which debuted in the third week of August. Next up is George Takei’s memoir, They Called Us Enemy, followed by the hardcover of the latest volume of Lore Olympus (the paperback edition appears further down the chart). Two webtoons, Volume 1 of Doom Breaker and Twistwood Tales, debut on the chart, as does Jamie Lee Curtis’s environmental horror story Mother Nature. In addition to They Called Us Enemy, three other classic memoirs are on the chart: March: Book One, Gender Queer, and I Was Their American Dream.
