PM Press has announced it will release two comic collections: a hardcover edition of 1997’s The System, by Peter Kuper, and a full-color retrospective of Kuper and Seth Tobocman’s comics anthology, World War 3 Illustrated 1979 – 2014.

The System was originally published in 1997 under DC’s Vertigo imprint.  The wordless graphic novel tells the interconnected story of different people whose actions lead to reactions and consequences, from a sleazy stockbroker lining his pockets to a corrupt cop shaking down drug dealers, a mercenary bomber setting a timer to a serial killer stalking strippers.  The 112-page hardcover includes a preface by Calvin Reid, and has an MSRP of $19.95.  It will release in May.

World War 3 Illustrated: 1979 – 2014 is edited by Kuper and Tobocman, and contains a retrospective of topics covered in the long running political comics anthology magazine.  Topics in the thematically organized volume include housing rights, feminism, environmental issues, religion, police brutality, globalization, and depictions of conflicts from the Middle East to the Midwest.  Contributors include Sue Coe, Eric Drooker, Fly, Sandy Jimenez, Sabrina Jones, Peter Kuper, Mac McGill, Kevin Pyle, Spain Rodriguez, Nicole Schulman, Seth Tobocman, and Susan Willmarth among others.  Introduction to the 328 page, full-color hardcover is by Bill Ayers.  MSRP is $29.95, and the book will release in May.
