The ComicConnect auction for the newly discovered copy of Action Comics #1 closed Tuesday evening at $175,000. This copy was discovered being used as insulation in the wall of a house built in 1938, the year the comic was published (see "New Copy of 'Action Comics' #1 Discovered").
The copy graded out at a CGC 1.5 after suffering a torn back cover in the excitement after its discovery. That makes the $175,000 price tag high for the condition, although given the limited number of known copies of Action Comics #1 and the prices high condition copies have been bringing (see "'Action Comics' #1 Brings $2.16 Million"), each copy sold seems like new territory.
