Legendary Comics shared a trio of planned comic releases in conjunction with the announcement of its new book trade sales and distribution deal (see "Legendary Signs for Distribution").
Legendary Comics’ first releases were tie-in OGNs with parent Legendary Entertainment’s movie offerings, such as Godzilla--Awakenings and Pacific Rim: Tales from Year Zero, or releases with high profile Hollywood-worthy talent like Max Brooks and Frank Miller. Then last year, Legendary announced Tower Chronicles, a comic series by Matt Wagner and Simon Bisley (see "Legendary Goes Monthly"), which launches in August. Now three additional comic series have been announced. This expansion of original content is a fulfillment of the original mission of the company to create new intellectual property that can be exploited in other media (see "Schreck Is EIC of Legendary Comics").
"Working with a mix of seasoned comic book pros and some bright newcomers, we are committed to delivering the best new stories, characters and worlds in the industry," Legendary Comics Editor-In-Chief Bob Schreck said. "The three new titles we are announcing today are just the tip of the iceberg of what's to come from Legendary Comics."
The first project, planned for September release, is A Town Called Dragon, written by Judd Winick (Exiles, Green Arrow), with art by Geoff Shaw (Buzzkill, Pacific Rim: Tales from Year Zero). Set in modern-day America, the last dragon egg hatches and a group of ordinary townsfolk must defeat the menace.
Also planned for fall release is Epochalypse, by Jonathan Hennessey (The Gettysburg Address: A Graphic Adaptation), with art by Shane Davis (Trinity, Superboy). A mysterious space-time event causes 600 years of world history to collapse into a single era. Now a group of “Resynchronization” officers must wage war against time itself to fix it.
In 2015, The Harvester, by Brandon Seifert (Witch Doctor, Disney Kingdoms: Seekers of the Weird), with art by Eric Battle (Aquaman, Green Lantern, Godzilla: Awakenings) will release. Two supernatural investigators run afoul of an urban legend, and find out “The Harvester” is very real, and very dangerous.
