Asmodee is releasing For a Crown, a game about dynastic intrigue from Repos Productions.

In For a Crown, players compete for control of a kingdom by hiring mercenaries and deploying them to fulfill their goals through subterfuge, deception, and intrigue.  First, players slip their mercenary cards into the game’s card sleeves, then all players’ cards are added to a common deck, along with event cards.  Cards are revealed from the deck, with players taking actions each time one of their mercenaries appears.  The goal of the players is to collect the most rubies while blocking their opponents from gathering their own, with the one who has the most rubies at the end claiming the crown and the victory.

For a Crown was created by Maxime Rambourg (The LOOP, The Big Book of Madness) and features artwork by Paul Mafayon (Bunny Kingdom, King of Tokyo:  Dark Edition).  The game includes 62 cards, 32 card sleeves, 7 chests, 5 pawns, 1 game board, 1 die, 115 tokens, and 11 tiles.  It is intended for 3 to 5 players, ages 8 and up, and plays in about half an hour.  MSRP is $39.99.

Asmodee recently offered Repos’ The Lord of the Rings:  Duel for Middle-earth (see “Review: ‘The Lord of the Rings:  Duel for Middle-earth’ (board game)” and “‘Lord of the Rings:  Duel for Middle-earth’ Heads to Retail”).
