The Sci Fi Channel has announced that it has renewed its Peabody Award-winning original series Battlestar Galactica. Thirteen new episodes will go into production this summer and will debut over the airwaves beginning next January.
The most popular original series currently airing on the Sci Fi Channel, Battlestar Galactica recently made the transition from its original Friday night time slot to Sunday night and managed to register an 8% gain in total viewers while doing so. BSG's January 28th episode, 'Taking a Break From All Your Worries' managed to attract 2.5 million viewers, the most of any BSG episode since the premiere episode of Season 2.
With a plethora of BSG merchandise including action figures from Diamond Select, comics from Dynamite, a CCG from WizKids and an RPG from Margaret Weis Productions, the continuation of the popular TV series, while expected, is still good news.
