The surprisingly strong opening weekend for 300 (see 'Scintillating Spartans') was not limited to the regular big-screen version; the Imax release was record-setting.  The $3.6 million total broke every record for simultaneous Imax and regular release.  The per screen average of $58,000 was also a new Hollywood record.  In addition, the film broke opening weekend records in 48 of the 62 locations in which it opened.
