According to Variety, noted comic book writer Grant Morrison will write the screen adaptation for a feature film under development by Paramount based on the videogame, Area 51.

Paramount acquired feature film rights to the videogame in 2004, before the game's release in 2005.  Area 51 is set in the top-secret U.S. military base and involves an extra-terrestrial threat.

Morrison has written many best-selling comic book titles including Arkham Asylum (one of the first original hardcover graphic novels in the U.S., which according to Variety has sold over 500,000 copies worldwide), and We3 for Vertigo, which he's currently scripting for a film in development at New Line (see 'We3 Gets Movie Deal').
