The live action feature L being spun off from the Death Note films (see 'More Life for Death Note') has a director.  According to Variety, Hideo Nakata, who directed The Ring 2 and The Ring 3 in Hollywood, is going back to Japan to direct the feature.  His return to Japan was due in part to his desire to work with Kenichi Matsuyama, who will play the lead. 

Shooting is scheduled to start in August, and the film is slated for release in Japan in the first half of 2008.
