Variety is reporting that Columbia Pictures has optioned Mark Verheiden's The Ark comic, which first appeared in the anthology Dark Horse Presents.  Mark Verheiden, who adapted his Timecop comic for the screen and has written for Battlestar Galactica and Smallville, is writing the initial draft screenplay based on his comic, which combines the story of Noah with a UFO crash-landing.

 

Dark Horse's Mike Richardson, who has a wealth of producing credits including The Mask, the Hellboy movies, and 30 Days of Night will produce The Ark along with Original Films' Neil Moritz (Evan Almighty, I Am Legend, The Green Hornet).
