Mike Boze of HawgHead Comics in Fort Smith, Arkansas saw retailer comments on damages (see 'Scott Walston of Scott's Comics on Damaged Copies') as says he has had similar problems:

I would also like to comment on this subject.  It is not as bad as it has been in recent history, but I have had regular shipments with crushed corners on the boxes.  Double boxes are great for normal operation, but when the boxes are dropped by handlers at UPS, nothing can prevent an entire stack of comics from being damaged.  I have mentioned this to every dock supervisor I have had at UPS and the common response is to 'turn in the damages to the front office!!'  As if this helps on items that are sold out at Diamond.  I do not hold Diamond responsible (I have never been questioned on the amount of damages I turn in) and I really don't know of a solution other than to use smaller boxes to maybe prevent the UPS people from dropping the boxes to keep from bending over.
