
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Chicago-based rapper Common is set to star in Universal's big screen adaptation of Mark Millar's Wanted opposite Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman and James McAvoy. Published by Top Cow, Wanted, which features art by J.G. Jones, is the story of a white collar weakling (McAvoy), who after the death of a father he never knew, learns that he by is birthright a member of a group of super-assassins known as the Fraternity.
Common (born Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr.) will portray a character known as the Gunsmith, a weapons expert who helps transform McAvoy's Mitty-esque milquetoast into a menacing murder machine. Tyro Russian helmer Timur Bekmambetov (Night Watch) will direct Wanted (see 'Russian to Direct Wanted').
