Papercutz has announced the January publication of Rick Geary's adaptation of Charles Dickens' Great Expectations.  Rick Geary, who is best known for his Treasury of Victorian Murder series of graphic novels (published by NBM), is obviously extremely adept at recreating the 19th century and he demonstrates the full range of his abilities in his adaptation of Dickens' bittersweet tale of a young man making his way in a challenging world populated by an array of richly delineated characters.  Geary's Classics Illustrated adaptation of Great Expectations was originally published by First Comics in 1990.

Papercutz' Classics Illustrated #1: Great Expectations is available in a full color 56-page hardcover with a cover price of $9.95.

Great Expectations is actually the second announced offering in Papercutz' revived Classics Illustrated series, though it is the first release in the regular Classics Illustrated series.  Papercutz' first Classics Illustrated release, an adaptation of Kenneth Grahame's Wind in the Willows by Michel Plessix, is part of the Classics Illustrated Deluxe series, which consists of longer adaptations (see 'Papercutz Revives 'Classics Illustrated'').

Plessix' adaptation of the Wind in the Willows is 144 pages long and is available in both hardcover ($17.95) and trade paperback ($13.95) editions.
