Chuck Hancock of All Heroes Comics in Rochester, New York, shares his experience with Free Comic Book Day 2008 (see “National Comics Holiday this Weekend”), and says it was "excellent:”

FCBD 2008 was excellent!  Things were a little different this year.  I started things off Friday with my oldest son’s kindergarten class.  I hooked up his classmates with one each of all the kid friendly comics and donated kid friendly comics to his school’s library.

I didn't do any promotion with this; I didn't stamp the store logo on the books or come in and hype my store to the kids, it was just getting kids cool stuff to get them reading!  Then Saturday came around and it ruled! Even without the 501st this year (my guys were in Philly for a Star Wars exhibit), crowds were excellent and consistent all day long. I can't wait for FCBD 2009!!
