Humanoids Publishing has released new details on its revival of the comic anthology that influenced and inspired Heavy Metal (see 'Humanoids To Revive Metal Hurlant').  Metal Hurlant, which ceased publication in France more than a decade ago, is coming back to life as a bi-monthly, 48-page comic book-size magazine that will carry a cover price of $3.95.  Humanoids plans to support the issue with an in-store poster as well as ordering incentives for retailers.  Humanoids will release the revamped Metal Hurlant simultaneously in several countries including the U.S. and France.  Humanoids will use Metal Hurlant as a springboard for generating other projects like Pin-Up Girls From Around the World by Fred Beltran (who provides the cover illustration for Metal Hurlant #1) and the Miss trade paperback from Marc Riou and Mark Vigouroux.

The first issue of Metal Hurlant includes a story by Kurt Busiek illustrated by Gerald Parel as well as the first installment of Megalex by the TechnoPriests team of Jodorowsky and Beltran.  The format of the first issue of Metal Hurlant will include 32 full color pages as well as 16 pages in black-and-white.  Information about the exact timing of the release of Metal Hurlant #1 as well as details about promo materials and ordering incentives should be available soon.
