Walt Disney Studios is launching Kingdom Comics, a new company to develop graphic novels for film adaptation, as well as rejuvenating Disney live action film properties.  Disney Publishing will have the first option to publish the material, although Kingdom will be able to take its packages elsewhere if Disney declines to publish.

Three principals are involved in Kingdom Comics.  Ahmet Zappa, the third of Frank Zappa’s children, has acted in TV series such as Roseanne and Growing Pains, films, and reality and game shows; wrote a novel, The Monstrous Memoirs of a Mighty McFearless, which has also been optioned for a film; and is executive producing a Fraggle Rock feature.

Harris Katleman ran Twentieth Century TV from 1980 to 1992, during which it developed The Simpsons, In Living Color, and other hits.  He is a partner with Jonathan Goodson Productions.

Christian Beranek founded Silent Devil, where he produced Dracula vs. King Arthur and Super Frat.
