Tokyopop OEL creator Rivkah has posted a blog entry indicating that she believes that nearly all of Tokyopop’s OEL titles will go to the Web and will not see print.  “I’m not sure how much I should say for fear of causing an outright panic with other creators,” she said. “It looks like the whole line of non-licensed material will cease printing and be promoted online only.”

Rivkah indicated that she expected to be able to secure the print rights to the third volume of Steady Beat, her graphic novel series. 

Tokyopop recently announced that it is splitting into two companies (see “Tokyopop Splits into Two Companies”), a publishing company and a new media company.  The company has experimented in the past with putting comics directly onto the Web rather than publishing them in print form, so it wouldn’t be that big a stretch to see some form of this model coming out of its reorganization.
