Erik Larsen is stepping down as Publisher of Image Comics, according to Comic Book Resources. Image Executive Director Eric Stephenson will replace Larsen, who told CBR, “I’m stepping down from my position to get some work done. I think I’m far more useful to the company in a creative capacity versus an administrative one… Now that things are on the upswing at Image, I don’t think I’m as needed in that position as I was at one point.” Larsen wants to spend more time on his comics and get Savage Dragon back on a regular monthly publishing schedule.
Eric Stephenson, who has been at Image from the beginning, has worked in a number of capacities including Marketing Director before he moved up to serve as Executive Director to Jim Valentino, when Valentino became Image Publisher. Four years ago when Larsen took over as Image Publisher, Stephenson continued on as Executive Director.
