The winners of the Harvey Awards, the comic awards named for famed creator Harvey Kurtzman, were announced at the Pittsburgh Comicon last weekend.  Harveys are nominated and voted on by comics industry professionals.  The awards were dominated by Fantagraphics and DC this year, a not unusual circumstance.  Superheros made a better than usual showing, albeit in unusual forms in DC's Bizarro and Jack Cole and Plastic Man.

In the biggest upset of the awards, for only the third time since the award was begun in 1990 (the Harveys began in 1988), Comics Journal did not win Best Biographical, Historical, or Journalistic Presentation, losing out to Jack Cole.... (the previous losses were to Crumb and Understanding Comics).
