Comics retailer organization ComicsPro has thrown its support behind Marvel’s plans to distribute The Stand hardcover exclusively through comic stores (see “Marvel Plans The Stand Release Events”).  “This news is being met with enthusiasm from ComicsPro,” the organization’s statement said.

Organization president Joe Field urged comic stores to get behind the product.  “I’d encourage all direct market retailers to take another look at their orders on The Stand,” he said.  “Armed with the info that this won’t be displayed at mega-bookstores everywhere, it’s worth stocking deeper and promoting stronger to Stephen King’s rabid fan base.”

Without explanation, Marvel has cancelled plans to organize The Stand release events on Tuesday night, March 10th, but that’s unlikely to cool retailer interest in the book, given its direct-only status, the huge King fan base, and Marvel’s plans to promote it.
