MTV is reporting that the iconic rap crew Public Enemy is “in talks with a major animation studio to produce a feature film based on their recent comic book exploits.” American Mule Entertainment is publishing the first graphic novel collection of the Public Enemy comic book in May. The volume collects the first five issues of the comic, which mixes fantasy and reality and is written by Public Enemy’s Chuck D and Adam Wallenta (with art by Wallenta). Public Enemy is among the most politically active rap groups so it should come as no surprise that the graphic novel features a guest appearance by President Barack Obama and a slugfest with ex-President George W. Bush.
MTV claims to have two sources for the story, but there has been no official confirmation from the “rebels without a pause” themselves.
