San Diego Comic-Con has announced the nominees for the 2009 Russ Manning Promising Newcomer Award.  The winner will be announced at the Eisner Awards ceremony on July 24th at Comic-Con.  The nominees are:

• Gregory Baldwin, for Path (published by com.x Ltd.)
• Eleanor Davis, for Stinky (Raw Junior/Toon Books)
• Leigh Kellogg, for Wayfarer’s Moon (Single Edge Studios)
• Lukas Ketner, for Witchdoctor (self-published)
• Christian Slade, for Korgi (Top Shelf)

Nominees were selected by a committee from members of the West Coast Comics Club and Comic-Con International.  The winner will be chosen by past Manning award winners and Russ Manning assistants.
