Michael Breakfield of Lone Star Comics in Arlington, Texas read the news of The Walt Disney Company buying Marvel Comics (see "DISNEY BUYS MARVEL!"), and he would like to share some of his fantastic fanboy crossovers ideas that now can be possible as a result of this union:

I'm sure by now that everyone has heard the BIG news of last week.  Disney has bought Marvel Comics.  Whether that is a good thing, or not, remains to be seen.  I'm not here to talk about the business aspects of things though.  I'm here strictly as a fanboy chomping at the bit for all the wonderful possibilities.  Just think of all the fantastic crossover tales we can be treated to now that the House of Ideas has joined forces with the Mouse.

Here are just a few team-ups off the top of my head I'd love to see:

Mickey Mouse and Captain America:  They are icons, leaders of their respective universes.  Mickey has been entertaining audiences and saving the day since 1928.  The Sentinel of Liberty has been fighting Nazis and standing up for truth, justice, and the American way since 1941.  Except for Apple Pie, and maybe Superman, there isn't anything more American than Mickey Mouse and Captain America.  Just imagine these two icons teaming up to take down the diabolical pairing of the Red Skull and the sinister Phantom Blot.  It's a match made in heaven.

Huey, Dewey, and Louie and the Runaways:  Donald's nephews have an uncanny knack for getting into, and out of, trouble.  Along with their other uncle, Scrooge McDuck, they have journeyed the globe on numerous hair-raising adventures and survived dangers unparalleled.  The Runaways are a group of teen super heroes that have faced down their super villain parents, braved the rigors of time-travel, and survived a run in with the Kingpin of Crime.  Just throw all these little troublemakers into the mix and let the hilarity commence.

The Fantastic Four and the Incredibles:  This pairing is probably the biggest no-brainer on this list.  The Fantastic Four are Marvel's First Family.  The Incredibles are the premiere family of heroes of Metroville.  Who is stronger, the Thing or Mr. Incredible?  Who's stretchier, Mister Fantastic or Elastigirl?  Who's the bigger prankster, Dash or the Human Torch?  These are the important questions that need to be answered.  Not to mention the super-hero mayhem that will be unleashed when the Families' greatest adversaries, Doctor Doom, Syndrome, the Underminer, and the Mole Man, unite and attack.

How about a mega-crossover event in the same vein as Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars or Annihilation starring: Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham, Gizmo Duck, Devil Dinosaur, Super Goof, the Pet Avengers, Launchpad McQuack, Nick Furry and the Agents of S.H.E.E.P., Darkwing Duck, Fantasia Mickey, the Little Mermaid, and the Marvel Apes.  Now that would be a fun read.

So Disney, an already mega-media giant, owns ABC, ESPN, Pixar, and now Marvel Comics.  I imagine that somewhere in an underground bunker below Disneyland, Cobra Commander is twiddling his gloved-fingers and whispering to himself, "Excellent."
