High-end replica producer eFX has acquired the rights to produce Star Trek collectibles, licensed from CBS Consumer Products.  The first Star Trek item that eFX will produce is the Mark IX Tricorder from Star Trek: First Contact, the 8th Star Trek movie and the first to feature the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation.  The Star Trek property now joins the portfolio of licenses acquired by eFX that also includes Star Wars, (see “Star Wars Collectibles Licenses Awarded”),the original Battlestar Galactica, Disney animation (and live action films), and the Muppets.

eFX plans to limit is production of the Mark IX Tricorder to just 1000 devices worldwide.  The Mark IX Tricorders will be offered as a “signature edition” signed by Brent Spinner, who played Data in Star Trek: The Next Generation and the films it inspired.
