In February Dynamite Entertainment is offering the 184-page full color Project Superpowers: Chapter Two Vol.1 trade paperback collection for a cover price of just $9.99, although most full color comic book trades of that length retail for well over $20.  Dynamite’s Nick Barrucci explained the strategy to ICv2: “The reason we're doing this is that although Project Superpowers has been a success, we would like to bring more success to the series, and it's hard to get people to pick up a series midstream for anybody, not just Dynamite.  So the idea is to give a jumping on point with the first trade.”

The Project Superpowers: Chapter Two TPB includes the first six issues of the second chapter of the fascinating series by Alex Ross and Jim Krueger, who have revived a host of intriguing Golden Age superheroes and put them through their paces in some serious superhero adventure sagas (see “Interview With Alex Ross”).  It will be released in time so that it can be racked with the first issue of a new story arc that Ross and Krueger are launching in Project Superpowers: Chapter Two #7. The idea behind the simultaneous launch of the trade paperback and the first issue of a new arc is to give greater weight to both launches—and the low price point on the trade should allow fans to catch up with the story, and then start the new arc with the release of #7.

Dynamite is offering incentives to retailers on both the PS trade paperback and issue #7.  For every 5 copies of the Project Superpowers: Chapter Two Vol.1 trade paperback that retailers order, Dynamite will supply 3 rare limited edition Project Superpowers variants at no cost.  Dynamite plans to overship Project Superpowers #7 to participating retailers at no cost.  The overshipment is equal to the number of copies that retailers order initially, which will allow retailers to have twice as many copies as their initial order at no additional cost.
