Funimation has acquired the rights to the six-OVA anime FLCL from Production I.G., and plans to release them in one DVD set and on Blu-ray late this year.  FLCL, despite the limited amount of material, has had a good audience in the U.S., and won two American Anime Awards (see “American Anime Award Winners”) in connection with the release of the FLCL Ultimate DVD Collection (see “FLCL Ultimate DVD Collection”). 

Broccoli Books sister company Synch-point was the previous licensee; it ceased operations in late 2008 (see “Broccoli Books Shuts Down”). 

FLCL was produced by Production I.G., Gainax, and Starchild, and directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki.
