Peter DeFelice of Pyramid Comics and Cards in Sparta New Jersey has been following the recent Talk Back discussion regarding receiving Diamond shipments a day earlier and had this to say:
I have heard this argument for years, "Life would be better and sales would increase if we could all just get our comics a day earlier." The truth is that, the release date should be delayed until Thursday. The vast majority of people get paid on Thursday. Checks can be cashed after 2pm and direct deposits clear on Thursday. The average family, according to the U.S. Department of Labor, spends $2,968 per year on entertainment or $57 per week. We are in the entertainment business. It would be better to be the first in line, getting those guys after they cash their check, but before they go home. With the current system we are the last in line in entertainment dollars, we get the left over after they take their wives out for dinner on the weekend or they go to the newest, greatest movie.
