The Hollywood trades are reporting that David Bowers will direct Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2: Roderick Rules, the sequel to the Fox adaptation of Jeff Kinney’s bestselling quasi-graphic novel series.  The first Wimpy Kid movie, which debuted this year, was made for $15 million and has so far earned $64 million domestically.  Bowers’ has directed two major animated movies, Flushed Away (2006) and Astro Boy (2009).

 

Zachary Gordon, Steve Zahn and Rachael Harris are reprising their roles in the Wimpy Kid sequel, which will start filming in August for a March, 2011 debut (see “Wimpy Kid Returns”).
