The second issue of Arcana Studios’ Zedura, its quarterly magazine of comics, movies, music, pop culture and television, is scheduled to ship in July in time for San Diego Comic-Con and will feature a photo cover of comic book icon Stan Lee.
Asked how the new Arcana magazine differs from others on the market, Zedura Editor-in-chief Erik Hentrix told ICv2 that unlike Wizard, his publication focuses more on the indy comic scene. He compared it to Spin, but with more of a pop culture focus, saying, “In Zedura we hope to establish a culture of cool.”
Lee will do a signing of Zedura #2 at Comic-Con. The contents include a piece on Lee’s animated series Striperella, an interview with Mike Allred on his upcoming Vertigo series I, Zombie as well as articles on writers Gail Simone and Paul Jenkins.
The first issue is still available from Diamond and has an Iron Man 2 cover as well as interviews with Chris Claremont on X-Men Forever, writer Mike Carey, and artist Ethan Van Sciver; as well as features on this summer’s movie blockbusters, actress Malese Jow from the TV series Vampire Diaries, the band Vampire Weekend and spoken word artist Henry Rollins. The 68-page magazine retails for $5.99.
