Chris Staros has joined the board of directors of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. He joins Peter David, John Davis, Neil Gaiman, Greg Ketter, Denis Kitchen, Frank Mangiaracina, Louise Nemschoff, and Milton Griepp who voted unanimously for his inclusion.  Staros is publisher of Top Shelf Productions, a graphic novel-only house noted for its high-quality books.  It is probably best-known for Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell's From Hell, which was made into a movie that was released in 2001, and for Creature Tech, which was just optioned for a movie (see 'Fox Options Creature Tech').

The CBLDF is currently engaged in one of the most important fights in its fifteen year history of defending the First Amendment rights of comic creators, retailers, and publishers; it is appealing the conviction of a Texas retailer that was sentenced to six months in jail for selling an adult comic to an adult (see 'CBLDF Appeals Retailer Conviction').
