Konami Digital Entertainment, manufacturer of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, wants to honor the world’s top 1000 YGO players by awarding them an official Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game mat.  Duelists, who were ranked in the Top 1000 under COSSY, the company’s official tournament support system between April 1, 2010 and June 30, 2010, are eligible to receive the mats.

In order to receive the mats, Duelists on the Top 1000 list have to complete the registration process with personal details such as their home address and telephone number, so the game mats can be mailed to them.  Duelists have until September 12th to register at the COSSY website.

Those who weren’t ranked in the Top1000 at the end of the second quarter can earn points to improve their rankings by participating in YGO TCG tournaments at their local hobby store or in regional and national events.  Konami has indicated that it plans on recognizing the Top 1000 players in upcoming quarters.

The breakdown of the first 1000 players to be recognized is quite interesting as it provides a snapshot that shows how international a phenomenon the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG is with 43 top players from Canada, 239 from Europe, 278 from Japan, 32 from Latin America, and 413 from the United States.
