Jay Bardyla of Happy Harbor Comics in Edmonton (Alberta), Canada read Steve Bennett's column criticizing publishers for making comics based off of television shows (see "Confessions of a Comic Book Guy--Go Ahead, Tug On Superman's Cape") and had this to say.

Steve Bennett wrote in his column:
"I can only say, "Have we completely run out of ideas?"  Maybe I'm just old fashioned but I have to admit I really miss the days when someone would just come up with an idea for a comic and somebody else would publish it."

Didn't Dell and Gold Key essentially survive by making comics based on TV shows.  I'm even holding a copy of Rango #1 (with Tim Conway on the cover) in my hand as I type this and Mr. Bennett thinks a comic based on Jericho or Warehouse 13 is weird?
