Rookie Spider-Man Miles Morales is featured on the variant cover to the Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #1 created by Sara Pichelli, who is the artist who is actually penciling the issue.  Kaare Andrews created the standard cover for the book, but Pichelli’s design features the fledgling webslinger with his mask off and the artist does a great job of capturing the teen’s wide-eyed, open, and eager expression, which appears to be composed of equal parts of anticipation and apprehension.

 

Marvel’s Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #1 goes on sale on September 7th.  Final order cutoff date is August 15th.  Marvel’s decision to make the new Ultimate Comics Spider-Man a half-black, half-Hispanic teen did not pass without a certain amount of controversy and misinterpretation (see “Marvel Says That New Ultimate Comics Spider-Man Is Not Gay”).
