Powered by a new version (3.0) launched last week and DC’s New 52 titles, which are available the same day in digital as they are in print, Comics by comiXology has been charting at the #2 grossing app in the iPad store, behind only the popular productivity app Pages. That puts Comics ahead of titles like Angry Birds and The Daily. The DC Comics app is at #9.
In his statement, comiXology CEO David Steinberger tied strong digital sales of the New 52 to the print sell-outs (see ‘Justice League #1 Second Printing Allocated”). “[W]hen you look at our success as one of the top grossing  iPad Apps and then take in the news about DC Comics going back to print on almost all of the New 52 comics, you can see that digital distribution is growing both the print and digital comic book market,” he said.
