Pop culture retailers may get a little bounce in the first quarter when Road to Perdition is released on DVD.  Based on the graphic novel by Max Allan Collins, Road to Perdition, which starred Tom Hanks and Paul Newman, earned over $100 million at the box office and should receive serious consideration for multiple Oscar nominations.  Numerous retailers report that the movie spurred sales of the Road to Perdition graphic novel, which was unjustly ignored when it first appeared in the 90s.

Dreamworks is preparing three different version of the Road to Perdition DVD, including widescreen and pan&scan Dolby Digital editions, plus a DTS version, which is available in widescreen only.  All three editions have identical extras (deleted scenes with commentary by director Sam Mendes, a 'making of' featurette, and trailers) and carry identical $26.95 price tags.
