Konami has announced that it will host the Dragon Duel World Championship, for Duelists 12 and under, each year in conjunction with the regular Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship. Younger players will be able to participate in the two-day Dragon Duel World Championship Qualifier, held in conjunction with the regular World Championship Qualifier. Players can get invites to WCQs at any Dragon Duel event, held at YCS events and select Regional Qualifiers, or by using a standard invitation to compete in the Dragon Duel event instead.
Konami feels that its championship programs can support two age classes. "With years of steady growth and increased player registration, we felt strongly that the time was right for these young Duelists to have their own global event," Konami VP of Card Business Yumi Hoashi said.
