Liquid Comics has launched Graphic India, a new digital comics Web platform promoting comics in India and showcasing young artists and writers there. The new platform will utilize Liquid’s existing library of content by Indian creators, plus new stories. The company plans to commission as many as 20 new graphic novel stories for digital distribution in 2012.
Liquid plans to extend Graphic India to mobile platforms in the coming months.
The Liquid Comics line was launched by Virgin Comics and acquired in a management buy-out (see “Virgin Comics Acquired”). Since the transition, Liquid has followed a strategy of making its titles widely available on digital platforms, licensed publication of print editions with Dynamite Entertainment (most recently, see “Dynamite to Publish Guggenheim’s ‘Nowhere Man’”), and aggressive media licensing.
