The November release of the second edition of A Game of Thrones: The Board Game from Fantasy Flight Games (see “A Second Edition of ‘A Game of Thrones: The Board Game’”) was the biggest product launch in the company’s 16 year history, a spokesperson told ICv2 in response to a question, and “there continues to be unprecedented demand for this product.”
This continues a trend of successful product launches tied to the property (see “Game of Thrones Moving Product”), adding a new scale to the phenomenon.
And this is in the interregnum between the first and second seasons of the hit HBO show. The second season kicks off next April (see “’Game of Thrones’ Season 2 Trailer”), which should give additional momentum to the property.
