This April Marvel Comics is launching two new comic book series that tie-in closely to the new Marvel Block on the Disney XD Channel, and are targeted squarely at young readers. The Marvel animation block, which will be known as the “Marvel Universe” debuts on Disney XD on April 1st (see “Ultimate Spider-Man to Anchor Marvel Block”), so it makes perfect sense that the two new all-ages comic book series debuting in April have titles nearly identical with the shows that comprise the new Marvel Block.
The “Man of Action” collective, which played a major role in the development of The Ultimate Spider-Man animated series, is also responsible for creating the Ultimate Spider-Man Adventures comic book along with Dan Slott, Ty Templeton, and Nuno Plati. Priced like its all-ages companion The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes at $2.99, the Ultimate Spider-Man Adventures series follows the adventures of Peter Parker in high school as he is discovering and developing his powers.
The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes #1 presents two new Avengers stories from the creative team of Chris Yost and Adam Deraker, who manage to frame the action and chronicle the adventures of the Avengers through the eyes of Agent Coulson, who is also playing a major role in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers movie that debuts this spring.
