Comic-Con News:  Movie director Quentin Tarantino made a surprise appearance at DC’s "Before Watchmen" panel where he announced that DC would be publishing a five issue miniseries adaptation of his next film, Django Unchained, a spaghetti western-inspired bounty hunter saga set in the Deep South in the pre-Civil War era.  Django Unchained, which stars Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, and Leonardo DiCaprio, will debut on Christmas Day, while the first issue of the comic will debut in print and same-day digital in November.

Tarantino explained the Comic-Con crowd that although the miniseries was an adaptation of the film, it was based on the initial draft of his script. Inevitably he has to cut out a lot of material and then make changes to smooth the narrative flow.  The comic book series will thus likely differ from the movie in numerous ways.
