Mark Bomback, a veteran screenwriter with credits on Live Free or Die Hard, Total Recall, as well as many uncredited "script doctor"” efforts such as a rewrite of Christopher McQuarrie’s The Wolverine script, has been brought in to write the final draft of a script by Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the sequel to Fox’s successful 2011 reboot of the POTA franchise Rise of the Planet of the Apes.  Silver and Jaffa penned the Rise of the Planet of the Apes script, which was directed by Rupert Wyatt.

Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) is taking over from Wyatt for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (see "'Apes' Sequel on Track"), which Fox has slated for a May 23rd, 2014 debut.  According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bomback did an uncredited rewrite on Rise, so he is certainly no stranger to the project.  Dawn continues the saga, begun in Rise, of how the apes, led by the super smart Caesar took over the planet from humans.
