The union representing TCGplayer employees and the company have agreed on a closing agreement for the company's Syracuse location, the union announced.  The agreement covers employees affected by eBay's plan to shut down the location and relocate its operations to Kentucky, which was announced in May (see "eBay Shutting Down TCGplayer").

Under the agreement, employees will receive 10 weeks of severance pay at $2.50/hour above current wages; 6 months of COBRA medical coverage paid by the company; 7 months of continued mental health benefits; and a $1250 ratification bonus for employees in the bargaining unit.

The union, a unit of the Communication Workers of America, thanked the TCG community for its support during the negotiations, and foreshadowed a possible future effort at the company's new location.  "We are so grateful for the support the TCG community has shown us, and we would not have made it this far without you all," the union said in a statement accompanying the announcement.  "From Syracuse to Louisville, workers everywhere deserve rights, respect, and dignity on the job."
