Reports in Variety, The Hollywood Reporter and several other movie industry publications and online sites indicate that an expanded trailer for Universal's The Hulk (directed by Ang Lee) made a big impression on the assembled theatre owners and managers at the ShoWest summer preview in Las Vegas.  Variety noted that The Hulk went over 'particularly well,' while the Hollywood Reporter noted that the Universal highlight reel was 'met with repeated bouts of applause.'  Overall Variety reported that the movie exhibitors 'seemed to agree that the summer titles seemed unusually strong.'

Chuck the Movieguy from comingsoon.net was effusive in his praise for The Hulk, 'I have no problem telling you that when the Super Bowl spot ran, I thought the CGI sucked on the Hulk and looked very unbelievable.  After watching the new trailer I was blown away.  I have turned 180 degrees on this movie.  The graphics were amazing.  It was loaded with shots of Bruce Banner changing into the Hulk and dozens of shots of the Hulk from close ups to aerial shots.  This was the highlight of the reel (containing promos for all Universal's summer releases) and man did they get the character exactly as I remember when I used to read the comics.  This could be bigger than the Spider-Man movie.'

The 'summer' movie season kicks off in earnest in just eight weeks when X2 opens on May 3.  Barring unforeseen circumstances it appears that the lineup for the summer of '03 could be one of the strongest ever (see 'Best in Shows -- 2003').
