Variety and Hollywood Reporter are both reporting that Nicholas Cage will star in Ghost Rider, which is set to begin filming late this year or early in 04.  Cage has been attached to a number of comic-based films in recent years, including Superman and Daredevil; this may be the one that actually gets made with him as the star.  Mark Steven Johnson, who directed the recently released Daredevil movie, will direct the film and also doctor the script, which was written by Shane Salerno.
