Comic-Con News: IDW Publishing has announced The Strange Death of Alex Raymond, in which Cerebus creator Dave Sim explores the history of photo-realistic art and the career of Alex Raymond in particular. As the title suggests, the work also covers Raymond’s controversial death, which occurred in 1956 while he was driving Stan Drake’s Corvette convertible (Drake survived the crash).
The Strange Death of Alex Raymond was originally serialized by Sim in the self-published Glamourpuss #s 1-26 (2008-2012). The IDW release, consisting of 18 issues, will be “completely re-mastered, redrawn, and reworked” prior to publication.
This announcement exhibits a continued partnership between IDW and Sim, which includes the publication of The Cerebus Covers collection, The Complete Zootanapuss Artist’s Edition, and a five year comic shop distribution agreement in 2012 for the collected High Society Audio Digital DVD edition (see "IDW to Publish 'Cerebus High Society'").
