Two powerhouse properties, Batman and The Walking Dead, topped the comics and graphic novel charts in November, with the most recent issue of Batman at over 125,000 on the comics chart, and the latest volume of The Walking Dead at over 25,000 on the graphic novel chart. Both properties also made their presence felt on charts of the other format, with Scott Snyder’s Batman Night of the Owls selling over 5400 on the Top 300 Graphic Novels chart, and two Walking Dead issues selling over 68,000 on the Top 300 Comics chart.
Marvel and DC event books (Forever Evil and Infinity) both sold over 100,000 copies in November, although slipping a little from their previous issues.
Marvel and DC’s top launches in November both sold over 110,000 copies, with Harley Quinn #0, which leads up to the #1 issue in December, in the #2 comic slot at over 114,000; and Amazing X-Men #1, with the return of Nightcrawler, in the #3 slot at over 112,000.
Perhaps the most surprising appearance on either chart was the latest volume of the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds manga, which took the #2 slot on the graphic novel chart with over 7,100 copies sold. That’s the bestselling manga in comic shops in some time, and a big improvement over previous volumes of the title.
The topselling backlist title on the graphic novel chart was Saga Vol. 1, which sold nearly 3,500 copies in November. Batman Vol. 3: Death in the Family HC did well in its second month, with over 3,200 sold (but not as well as Saga over a year after release).
