Marvel is promising "unprecedented levels of marketing and promotion" for its summer crossover event Original Sin across multiple media platforms including social media, the internet, radio and television, as well as providing exclusive launch party items to comic stores.
Marvel announced the event, which revolves around the murder of the Watcher, back in January (see "Marvel's 'Original Sin' Crossover"); it will include an eight-part Original Sin mini-series written by Jason Aaron, with art by Mike Deodato Jr., plus tie-in books.
The in-store launch party items will include lithographs by Skottie Young, special variant covers, and rubber glow-in-the-dark Watcher eyeballs (The Watcher’s eyes were removed after his murder). Marvel will also provide special in-store marketing collateral including postcards, a special in-store promo trailer and more, plus "special retailer incentives" for qualifying retailers.
The ad blitz will include targeted web and video advertising, radio campaigns, TV ads on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Declassified and other shows, and special fold-out insert ads appearing in top circulating Marvel titles from April through September.
Deadpool was one of many characters featured in run-up teasers (see "Deadpool Is the Subject of the Latest 'Original Sin' Teaser").
