BOOM! Studios has announced the launch of a new comic book series based on Cartoon Network hit animated series Uncle Grandpa under its KaBOOM! imprint in November.
Uncle Grandpa is the latest property to be licensed by BOOM! under its "first look" deal with Cartoon Network (see "BOOM! Gets CN First Look").
"When we had the opportunity to sit down with Uncle Grandpa creator Pete Browngardt and pick his brain, we were instantaneously inspired by what him [sic] and his team have created," said Matt Gagnon, BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief. "Pete is a bonafide comics reader and that can only magnify what we’re doing on the series."
Uncle Grandpa follows the title character, who is "everyone’s magical uncle and grandpa" as he travels around the world in a mystical RV helping people, along with companions Belly Bag, Pizza Steve and Giant Realistic Flying Tiger. The show debuted last September on CN as the #1 telecast of the week among boys 6-11. The show airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. (ET/PT).
