DC Comics is giving Bill Finger cover credit on the special giveaway version of Detective Comics #27 that it’s releasing on July 23rd, which Comics Alliance notes is the first time Finger has received cover credit on the Batman origin story. Finger’s family has begun a campaign to get Finger treated as co-creator of the character (see "Batman Creator Credit Battle Begins"); DC credits Kane as the creator of the character.
While this is apparently not a full co-creator credit, the cover credit on the special issue is a great acknowledgement than has been made before of Finger’s role in the creation of the first appearance of Batman.
The special giveaway issue is one part of a massive year-long program celebrating the 75th anniversary of Batman (see "75th Anniversary of Batman Celebration").
