Mark Welch of Comic Cubicle in Williamsburg, Virginia saw Marvel's new ratings (see 'Marvel Announces New Rating System') and has these tongue in cheek proposals for additional codes:
I understand Marvel is revamping their ratings system, eliminating those confusing PG and PG+ abbreviations. I'd like to propose some new codes they could use to help readers understand more about the comics they are buying:
SP: This will be a very popular code. It's for a book that was intentionally short printed to place all the risk on retailers. Better hope that no copies ship damaged because replacements are rarely available (I've not gotten replacements for damaged copies of the last two issues of Uncanny X-Men and Punisher which should be in ample supply).
IQ: This is a book that Bill Jemas is publishing to test retailers' intelligence (example: Marville, Namor). Your enjoyment is irrelevant if he can prove his point (whatever that may be this week).
KS: This would be a warning placed on any Kevin Smith mini-series to let you know that you may be waiting a very long time to finish the story you are beginning (e.g.: Spider-Man/Black Cat, Daredevil: Hard Target).
RL: You won't know which issue number you're buying of this comic, because this book has been relaunched. This is because #1's are good and history is bad (examples: Most of the Marvel line).
Anyone else have new codes to suggest?
